Match Report, U12s v Saltburn

The U12s suffered their first defeat of the season as Saltburn made a better job of defending their wickets on the low bouncing Gilling wicket.

Saltburn were put into bat and started slowly. Only their third pair managed to score any boundaries as they made a score of 53 for 3. John Clark and James Irving both finished with the excellent figures of 3 overs, 2 maidens, 1 wicket for 1 run.

The Richmondshire innings started badly as Saltburn bowled pretty straight and wickets fell, though two of our batsmen were out "bowled" from deliveries a foot outside their leg stump, as they backed away, the ball hit their pads and was deflected onto their stumps. The latter batsmen James Metcalfe, Connor, John and Liam then staged something of a recovery to bring the score back to the respectability of 66 for 8, leaving Saltburn ahead by 27 runs.
