Match Report, U11 Friendly v Dales

A night without rain meant we were able to enjoy a friendly in front of the smart new pavilion at Reeth.

Dales opened the batting with Sam, who was in aggressive form, hitting 2 sixes before mishitting a full toss and giving a catch. With Ted absent with a groin strain and James Kelly volunteering to keep wicket, our bowling attack was weakened, but although a few wides were bowled in the middle of the innings, the runs dried up. This changed again at the end of the innings when Dan Winter scored 21 but was dismissed twice, one a run out from James Kelly, who asked me to mention it in the blog, so his Dad would believe him. Dales scored 63 for 4, 243 net.

When we batted, all our batsmen scored runs, but we failed to punish the bad balls, scoring only 2 fours and 1 two. Plenty of singles were run, but that wasn't enough, as we finished on 47 for 4. Well done to Ben Williamson, a late replacement, who kept his wicket intact and only gave away 3 runs bowling on his debut.

There should be a return fixture later in the school holidays.
