Match Report, U11 Friendly at Barnard Castle

A friendly fixture that ended with an excellent close finish, the Richmondshire win being sealed by a four off the penultimate ball.

Barnard Castle batted first and scored 97 for 7, 262 net after 35 runs were taken off for the 7 wickets. In reply, Richmondshire scored 100 for 6, 270 net.

Barnard Castle started steadily and looked set for a good score, but were then pegged back as Joey, Jack and Theo picked up wickets later in the innings, before the last Barney pair put on 20 undefeated to improve their score.

We too got off to a steady start, but then lost wickets midway through the innings, so despite a useful 11 from James Metcalfe, we were 29 runs behind when our last pair came to the wicket. Toby and Will were keen to put one over on their schoolmates and focussed on the task in hand, achieving their aim as Toby finished on 22 not out and Will on 11 not out.

Well done to Matthew, Ryan and Thomas who all made their "debuts" in this match as part of a winning team.
