U11 Match Report, home v Marton, 28 June

Oh Dear!

We scored more runs than Marton, but managed to throw the game away by losing 10 wickets to their 5. Marton 72 for 5, equals 232 net; Richmondshire 75 for 10, equals 195 net.

Marton batted first and threatened a big score, as they were 233 net after their second pairing, but 3 wickets fell in their 3rd pairing, before the final pair got the score back to 232 net, a score that was quite achievable. Our wicket takers were: Sam 1-4, James Kelly 2-10, Ted 1-7 and Adam 1-10.

We opened again with Sam supported by Jonny, who helped him farm the strike with some very good running between the wickets. Sam scored 24 before being caught off his last ball, which left us 218 net. Adam and Toby came next, each being bowled once, Toby scoring 10 runs , leaving us at 213 net after their pairing. James Irving and Ted then had a terrible time, with both of them being out twice to bowlers, as well as a silly run out, so by the time Matthew and James Kelly came in, we needed 46 runs to win. Matthew scored 21 not out, but we finished on 195 net.
