U11 Match Report, away v Northallerton

The Under 11s cruised to a 132 run victory against a young and developing side, Northallerton suffered from our team all being well practised following the weekend's festival.

After the excitement of upstairs changing rooms with a balcony had died down, Captain (not very) Sensible Ted won the toss and elected to bat. The bowling was slow and the bounce low, making clean hitting challenging, Sam mishitting a few off the bottom of his bat and Adam being bowled swinging across the line (again!) as they put on a net 29. Ted and James Irving added another 30 to the score, despite Ted being bowled by a "pearoller". Next in were James Kelly and Liam, who increased the score by another 13, before John and Jonny came in as last pair. The scorecard showed double figure scores from 6 batsmen and wides, John's 20 not out being the highest score.

Northallerton played some competent shots when they batted, hitting five boundaries, but with extras contributing only nine, which is very low for an U11 match, together with a loss of 9 wickets, a net score of 168 was the result. Our younger bowlers were the main wicket takers, with James Kelly taking 4-4, Jonny Carr 2-1, James Irving 2-14 and John Clarke 1-3. James Kelly might not have been paying much attention, despite his excellent contribution, because at the end of the match he asked who had won!

Next match, v Stokesley, will be rather harder.
