U11 League Match v Northallerton, Tues 3rd May

The U11s eased to a 172 run win against Northallerton, who were playing their first match in the league.

Richmondshire batted first, Matthew Price and James Kelly got us off to an excellent start with a partnership of 31, Matthew hitting 21 not out. Next in were Toby Lush and Will Swinbank; Toby hit five fours on his way to 25 not out, some compensation for running out his mate as they scored 33 runs. Ted While and James Irving added a further 23 runs to the score without losing a wicket, before Sam Winter and Jonny Carr added 32 in the final pair, Jonny being surprised to receive a straight ball bowled by J Lowther which rattled his stumps. Little did Northallerton know that Jonny was about to get his own back with interest.

Northallerton struggled with the bat against bowling that was of a good length, all but two of their batsmen were dismissed at least once. Richmondshire were well organised in the field, with two runouts to go with the eleven times our bowlers hit the stumps. Jonny Carr was the star bowler as he hit the stumps 5 times to go home with the match ball and the bail he broke, he bowled one poor batsman 3 times, finishing with figures of 5 wickets for 10 runs.

Surprisingly, we bowled more wides than against Marton, but the bowling was much better as our bowlers attacked the stumps, this was a good workout from which both teams will have benefitted.
