U12 League Match Reports

We have been fielding a team made up year 4, 5 and 6 boys in the Hambleton and District Under 12 league, in which most teams contain predominantly year 7 players.

To date our team has performed admirably, winning two matches and losing one, against a Marton team that has many county players. The highlight has been the quality of our batting, in the three matches the team has hit a total of 38 fours and there have been 12 dismissals. Normally, at this agegroup, silly dismissals occur more regularly than boundaries.

If I can read the scorecards correctly, these are the scores:

Marton 111 for 2, (295 net) Richmondshire 72 for 6 (224 net) M Price 17*
Richmondshire 101 for 3 (277 net) J Moss 23* Scorton 39 for 5 (199 net)
Stokesley 111 for 8 (247 net) J Shields 2-7 Richmondshire 107 for 3 (283 net) O Kelly 23*, S Winter 21*

The win at Stokesley was particularly pleasing, their team was made up of visibly bigger boys, but our good score batting first put pressure on them to score quickly, which resulted in wickets falling regularly.

You never know, we might be able to win our own U11 festival, which takes place on Sunday 18th July. All players year 6 and under should put this date in their diaries, as we shall be entering more than one team.
